Extended shifts may begin earlier or end later than the standard schedule, and occasional Saturday work may be required based on production needs. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Set Up Technician III to support a high-volume manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for independently setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing a variety of CNC equipment while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards. The ideal candidate will have strong machining knowledge, experience performing complete machine setups, and the ability to make tooling, offset, and program adjustments with minimal supervision.
Equipment may include:
Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC) Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) Horizontal & Vertical Turning Lathes Swiss Screw Machines Multi-Axis Lathes Transfer Machines Robotic Systems Key ResponsibilitiesCNC Setup & Operation Perform complete machine setups with minimal assistance Install and remove tooling, fixtures, jaws, and workholding Establish work offsets and tool offsets Load, unload, and inspect production parts Adjust wear offsets and tooling as needed Obtain first article approvals and support production startup Perform tooling tests and document results Transfer and edit machine programs when required Recommend tooling improvements and machining strategies Set up and run first-time production jobs Quality & Inspection Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings Perform first-piece and in-process inspections Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring equipment Utilize calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, functional gauges, and other inspection tools Apply GD&T principles in daily machining activities Experience with CMM equipment is a plus Continuous Improvement Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions Maintain accurate production documentation Support process improvements focused on quality, efficiency, and safety Mentor and assist in training less experienced machinists QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED Minimum 4 years of machining, CNC setup, or related manufacturing experience Ability to independently perform machine setups Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis equipment Strong blueprint reading skills Experience using precision measuring instruments Working knowledge of GD&T Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Preferred Experience editing CNC programs Experience creating workholding solutions such as soft jaws CMM experience Multi-axis machining experience Robotics or automated manufacturing experience What We're Looking For Strong mechanical aptitude Dependable and safety-focused mindset Ability to work independently and as part of a team Positive attitude and willingness to mentor others Strong communication and organizational skills Continuous improvement mindset This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and contributing to a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
