Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods, while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting production operations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth facility operations and ensuring materials are available when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate various types of material handling equipment, primarily forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), safely and efficiently Perform daily safety inspections of lift equipment and complete required documentation Load and unload trucks according to shipping and receiving schedules Store and retrieve pallets within the plant, documenting inventory locations using handheld electronic devices Stage materials at equipment locations according to production schedules Move and manage Work-in-Process (WIP) pallets between machine locations and rack storage Maintain organized storage areas and implement proper rack numbering systems Perform inventory cycle counts and maintain accurate records Complete all required safety documentation, checklists, and logs Maintain cleanliness standards through 5S practices, including removal of empty pallets and waste management Work in a safe manner. Participate actively in Printpack's Continuous Improvement Program Other duties as assignedEducation & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred Experience in manufacturing or warehousing environment a plusRequired Skills:
Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain forklift certification) Basic computer literacy Ability to read and understand production schedules Mathematical skills for inventory counting Knowledge of warehouse management systems Understanding of safety protocols Ability to read and follow written instructions Basic problem-solving skills Team-oriented mindset Time management abilitiesAdditional Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age Must pass pre-employment assessment Drug screening required Background check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Warehouse safety procedures Material handling equipment operation Quality control standards Basic manufacturing processes OSHA regulations Forklift operation (stand-up and sit-down) Inventory tracking Documentation completion Basic computer operation Hand-held scanner operation Safe lifting techniques Time management Communication Work independently and as part of a team Maintain focus in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Demands:
The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to: Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds Standing/walking for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts) Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching Proficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skills Work in various temperature conditions Exposure to normal warehouse environment Good Eye and Hand coordination Regular exposure to moving machinery Use of ladders and other equipment Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jack certification Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Travel Requirements:
Travel is not required in this position.Work Conditions:
The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to: Noise levels above 85 dB Operation of complex machinery Solvents, fumes and inks Variable Temperatures Must be able to work flexible shifts May require nights, weekends, and holidays. An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (6pm to 6am).Additional Internal Requirements:
