Job Title:
Machine Operator - Molding Department Job Description The Machine Operator in the Molding department sets up and operates a variety of production equipment to manufacture quality plastic parts in a fast-paced factory environment. This role involves running molding presses and related machinery, inspecting parts for quality, handling large materials, and supporting smooth shift-to-shift operations while following safety and production standards. Responsibilities Operate molding presses, vacuum forming machines, die-cutting equipment, CNC routing machines, plastic granulators, and general hand tools as required. Work with multiple presses running simultaneously in a fast-paced production environment. Follow written and verbal instructions accurately and complete tasks independently without continual supervision. Maintain standard production cycles and job rates as established for each job. Handle large sheets and parts, including sheet sizes up to approximately 51 inches, with care to avoid damage. Perform visual inspections of parts for cosmetic and dimensional defects and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate lead personnel. Take accountability for the quality of produced parts and ensure finished work meets established standards. Move, pack, and stack raw materials and finished parts without damaging or affecting product quality. Ensure labels are applied neatly and contain correct and complete information. Clean up at and around presses during mold changeovers and perform general cleanup at the end of the shift. Perform rework or other necessary functions when instructed or when production time allows. Assist in the training and development of new machine operators by sharing knowledge of trimming, packing, and quality standards. Communicate clearly with the relieving operator at shift change regarding trimming requirements, packing methods, and quality expectations. Work a flexible schedule as needed to support production demands and meet customer requirements. Adhere to all department and company safety guidelines and procedures while operating machinery and handling materials. Perform essential duties efficiently and accurately to meet production and quality targets. Carry out other related duties as assigned to support overall production goals. Essential Skills Proven ability to operate production machinery such as molding presses, vacuum forming equipment, die-cutting machines, CNC routers, and plastic granulators. Experience with general hand tools in a manufacturing or factory environment. Ability to read and use precision measuring tools to verify part dimensions. Basic math skills to perform measurements, counts, and simple calculations. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or work instructions related to part specifications. Strong visual inspection skills to identify cosmetic and quality defects in molded parts. Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently with minimal supervision. Capability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparta, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.69 - $17.69/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
