Description:
Weldall Manufacturing is hiring an experienced CNC Plate Laser Operator with expertise in cutting large steel plate using CNC laser cutting equipment, including bevel cutting applications. This role is responsible for setting up and operating laser equipment, ensuring cut quality, and supporting production in a low-volume, high-mix job shop environment. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in precision work and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Key Responsibilities
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Set up and operate CNC plate laser cutting equipment, including bevel cutting operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand part geometry, cut requirements, and bevel details.
  • Verify material type, thickness, and job setup prior to cutting.
  • Load and unload steel plate using overhead cranes and/or forklifts.
  • Monitor cutting operations to ensure part quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain cut quality and efficiency.
  • Identify and correct cut issues such as dross, taper, or inconsistent bevel angles.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and work with team members to resolve production issues.
  • Ensure proper part identification, handling, and staging for downstream operations.
  • Use appropriate measuring tools to verify part conformance when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow established safety practices and properly use required safety equipment.
Requirements:
  • 1-3+ years of experience operating CNC plate laser cutting equipment, preferably in a job shop or fabrication environment.
  • Experience with bevel cutting applications preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and part drawings.
  • Experience setting up jobs, including material selection and machine adjustments.
  • Understanding of cut quality standards, including edge condition and bevel accuracy.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and make adjustments to improve cut quality and efficiency.
  • Experience handling large steel plate using overhead cranes and/or forklifts preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
  • Basic computer skills for operating machine interfaces and production systems. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move large plate and parts (training provided if needed).
  • Strong vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
