Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Batch Maker to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately and efficiently mixing raw materials to create high-quality coatings, adhesives, and sealants according to specified formulas. This role is critical to ensuring our products meet stringent quality standards and production deadlines. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and a commitment to precision and quality. We are a small but fast-growing company that offers paid vacation, holidays, health care benefits, and a company-matched 401k. Primary working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with some occasional overtime required.
Responsibilities:
Accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw materials per batch tickets and formulation instructions. Operate and monitor mixers and high-speed dispersing equipment. Follow established procedures for the proper sequence of adding materials to ensure consistent product quality. Collect and label samples for laboratory testing and retain samples. Adjust batches as directed by the Quality Control department to meet required specifications. Maintain detailed and accurate production records and batch logs. Safely transport and stage raw materials from the warehouse to the production area. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move drums, totes, and pallets. Properly label and store all raw materials and finished products. Maintain accurate raw material inventory by tracking lot codes and bin locations, both physically and in the ERP system. Assist with the management of raw material inventory, including cycle counts. Depending on product line, batcher will also label, fill, and package containers per customer requirements. Perform item lookups, inventory movements, and material consumptions in the ERP system. Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times. Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and environmental regulations. Clean and maintain equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or spills to the production supervisor immediately. Strict attention to detail at all times (following procedures, documentation, equipment usage, chemical handling, and storage).
Requirements:
Previous experience as a batch maker, compounder, or mixer in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the coatings or chemical industry, is highly desirable. Must be safe, quality-conscious, productive, and reliable. Strong mathematical skills for accurate measurement and calculation. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Basic computer literacy for record-keeping. Effective communication skills. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to routinely lift 50-70 lbs. Capable of using scales, hand tools, drum tippers, drum lifters, calculator, etc. Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English. Forklift driving experience is preferred, but not required. Will provide training as needed.
