Mill Worker / Skilled 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars Gillmann Services is hiring multiple Skilled Mill Workers in
Richwood, WV Duties:
Mark any defective areas on logs for later removal by trained personnel Oversee the grading process, and remove boards from the conveyor belt as they are passed down Sort lumber by length and thickness Maintain a clean and orderly shop environment (sweeping, removing scrap and defective wood from work areas) Inspect green hardwood lumber for defects (knots, stains, decay, splits, faulty edges, pitch pockets, wormholes, and defective milling) Grade wood according to company/national standards Keep accurate records of inspection results for data reporting Marking boards based on what is needed (oversized, needs trimming, etc.) Ensure production, quality control, and safety Sharpen, maintain, and repair saw blades Operate and maintain the filing room equipment Inspect saw blades and other equipment to ensure everything is operating safely and efficiently Operate sawmill machinery, such as circular saws and band saws Equipment operation Any other duties as needed
Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation and understand the importance of attendance for all scheduled shifts Ability to stand for the duration of the shift and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis Follow verbal instructions and work well both as part of a team and as an individual Experience in lumber grading, saw filing, or other mill-specific trades (green chain, equipment operation, etc.) is required Willing and able to help with multiple positions NHLA Certification Must have reliable transportation Must be able to pass a drug and background screening For more information on this position, please call our office at 304-252-4510!
