Job Description

Job Summary:
Assists physician in providing patient examinations, procedures and orthopedic procedures. Assists physician in cleansing wounds, assists in reducing fractures, pin insertions and applications of surgical dressing.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Experience as a Medical Assistant (MA):
Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
Orthopedic Technician certification: Preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS
OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS
) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred Surgical Technician certification:
Preferred Department Specific License/Certifications:
AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS:
Required Essential Functions:
Assists the physician/surgeon with tasks related to bracing, splinting and casting and other procedures as needed. Responds to emergencies and other STAT requests. Performs clerical duties. Consults with provider concerning procedures and patient condition. Applies, removes and adjusts orthopedic devices (i.e. splints, casts, bandages and slings) under physician supervision/instruction. Assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
