In this role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and maintaining precision molds used in plastics injection molding processes. Your expertise will ensure the production of high-quality components by creating accurate, durable, and efficient molds. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining technologies and contribute to innovative manufacturing solutions in a fast-paced environment. Duties Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks to develop detailed mold designs. Program CNC machines, including CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, to precisely machine mold components according to specifications. Utilize electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques to create complex cavity shapes and fine features in mold parts. Assemble mold components with hand tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques, ensuring proper fit and function. Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, micrometer gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure molds meet strict quality requirements. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on molds and machining equipment to optimize performance. Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling design improvements and modifications for plastics injection molding processes. Operate stamping presses and other fabrication tools as needed for mold component production. Maintain detailed documentation of mold fabrication processes, schematics, and assembly procedures. Requirements Proven experience as a Mold Maker or similar role within a manufacturing or tooling environment. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and CAD programs like AutoCAD for detailed design work. Strong knowledge of CNC programming using CAM software for machining operations. Skilled in electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding, and fabrication techniques. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and stamping press operations. Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and schematics accurately; familiarity with GD&T standards is essential. Experience working with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Knowledge of math principles relevant to machining tolerances and tooling design. Familiarity with hand tools, assembly techniques, machining operations, and tooling fabrication methods. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and engineering staff.
