Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Rolling Mill Equipment Operator to support production operations in a high-volume industrial manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment used in the production of seamless pipe and related steel products. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing experience, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities Operate production equipment within a hot rolling mill environment, including saw systems, reheating equipment, piercing equipment, rolling mills, reducing mills, and related material handling systems. Monitor control panels, computer terminals, HMIs, remote camera systems, and production displays to ensure equipment is operating properly. Make necessary process and equipment adjustments to maintain production flow, quality standards, and operational efficiency. Assist with building production line setups, changing tooling, and preparing equipment for specific product requirements. Support safe and reliable mill operations while helping improve production performance, yield, equipment availability, and overall efficiency. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and work instructions related to equipment operation and production activities. Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns, needed repairs, or replacement parts to supervision or maintenance personnel. Conduct in-process quality checks and inspections to identify defects and ensure products meet customer specifications. Troubleshoot production or equipment issues and assist in identifying root causes. Recommend process improvements that may improve safety, quality, production flow, or operational efficiency. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping and 5S standards. Participate in lockout/tagout procedures, including verification of zero energy when required. Actively participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, required training, and continuous improvement activities. Demonstrate dependable attendance, strong work ethic, flexibility, and the ability to meet changing business needs. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification required. Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, steel, pipe, or heavy production environment required. Basic understanding of automated manufacturing processes required. Control room or pulpit operations experience strongly preferred. Experience with hot rolling mill equipment, reheating furnaces, piercing mills, reducing mills, cooling beds, saw systems, or similar industrial equipment preferred. Intermediate computer skills required, including the ability to enter data, review reports, troubleshoot system issues, and navigate production software. Ability to learn and operate HMIs, mill control systems, production monitoring systems, ERP systems, and other manufacturing technology platforms. Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, dust, fumes, noise, chemicals, uneven walking surfaces, elevated work areas, and confined spaces while using required PPE. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to read, speak, and understand English clearly for safety, production, and documentation purposes. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working around large industrial equipment. This person should be able to follow procedures, monitor automated systems, communicate clearly with team members, and respond quickly to production or equipment issues.
