Verizon, Ford, Perkspot Health and Wellness Benefits, including Monthly Gym/Fitness Incentives General Description General Description Crusher Operators typically have previous experience working around a rock crushing plant; and have experience working with their hands, feet and using consistent thought process in decision making and executing instructions. Selected individual will be expected to travel to other work sites. Key Duties Crusher Operators are responsible for carrying out a wide range of physical responsibilities which may include: Set up of crusher operation in temporary locations Ensure crusher is level at all times Maintain Site Cleanliness Perform general labor activities, including shoveling, in and the moving parts of the crusher Remove build up from under or around the crusher and beltlines Daily checks on conveyors, screen deck and crusher box Clean lubricate and perform routine maintenance on machinery Identify unusual plant noise that indicates potential mechanical issues Report crusher issues in a timely manner Monitor Silica dust emissions and use dust suppression as required Adjust Crusher settings to optimize performance and gradation Collect Materials for laboratory sampling and testing Maintain communication with other members of the crusher operation Complete required daily documentation for inspection logs, hours of service, etc. Conduct Daily Safety Checks Conduct Emergency Shutdown in safe and efficient manner Qualifications and Requirements General To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience his position is an entry-level role and requires minimal experience in the construction industry. Previous Mechanical experience (preferred), including operation of an aggregate crushing machine or similar. Welding or Torch Cutting experience (preferred) Knowledge of aggregate classification High school diploma or equivalent Driver's license (preferred) Must be able to understand verbal and visual instructions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees. Physical Demands The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Crusher Operator to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Constant ability to walk at slow pace, on various walking surfaces, including asphalt, concrete, dirt and stone. Frequent ability to stoop, bend, and crouch. Frequent physical dexterity to use hand tools, such as a hand shovel, consisting of pushing/pulling and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be able to use steps and handle/grab bars to access and egress heavy mobile equipment. Frequent vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequent ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., moving equipment, backing alarms, or other alarms, instructions/directions from supervisor and/or spotter). Work Environment The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Crusher Operator will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Work environment may periodically expose individual to various levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a plant; either engineering controls and/or personal protective equipment is required, to ensure exposure limit does not exceed OSHA specifications. Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery. Work may involve exposure to a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline and diesel fuel; however, no levels above OSHA Permissible exposure limit. Demonstrates Safety 1st It is important for members of our team to be actively involved in their own safety, while being considerate of fellow employees. Assess work environment for possible hazards and makes sure training is adequate to the task. Has proper personal protective equipment and tools, uses them appropriately for the given task. Speaks up if seeing an unsafe act Identifies and turns in near miss reports Asks for help, when needed, to perform tasks safely.
