Job Description

SLITTER OPERATOR
Venture Steel, a leading national steel service center, is seeking a talented addition to our staff. Job Responsibilities and Duties For this role a minimum of five (5) years of slitter operator experience is required. Accurately process material using instructions and customer specifications Read work order for comments and detail Make sure master coil is correct verify mill tag to our tag Ensure gauge and size is correct and recording the data Input requirements into gamma gauge monitoring equipment Verify correct width using calipers Input slitting times into SSCM Proper slitting of material Conduct gauge test while running material using a micrometer Inspect material while running looking for defects, mapped and unmapped Use of levelers Read and create a feed forward map Make sure to fill out in process checklist with double verification Accurately record and document records of production and inspection Advise supervisor if material is outside of spec Proper setup of overarm spacers and disks Be aware of any issues with machinery and bring the attention of the supervisor if there are any issues Ensure that any material on the recoiler is removed as safely and efficiently as possible Report any and all quality concerns promptly Perform all tasks in a safe manner, using good judgement Properly tag customer size on cuts to be packaged Note any deviations of orders to supervisor for approval Note any quality information on work order and sign as to completion Follow all safety procedures while operating slitter and other equipment Assist where needed when not running or setting up slitter Maintain proper housekeeping in work area Other duties as assigned Required Experience and Skills/Abilities A minimum of five (5) years p revious slitter experience required Must be able to lift 50 pounds Must be able to walk long distances Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records
