Position Summary:
Cobra
MOTO / AERO
is seeking a hands-on Mold Maker that has the overall responsibility for layouts, machines, fitting, assembling, and finishing metal parts to make and repair metal molds for the injection of plastic products, analyzing specifications, and applying knowledge of mold design and construction. This person would also be responsible for a variety of other duties including fabrication fixtures, prototypes, and low-rate production.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, fabricate, repair, and maintain injection molds for production and prototype applications. Manufacture machining fixtures, jigs, press dies, and tooling to support manufacturing operations. Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T specifications. Operate manual and CNC machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, and surface grinders. Perform precision fitting, assembly, spotting, and troubleshooting of molds and tooling components. Support prototype development and low-rate production machining projects. Work with suppliers to conduct mold sampling, validation, and process adjustments to ensure part quality and repeatability. Diagnose tooling wear, failure, and dimensional issues; implement corrective actions. Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to optimize manufacturability and tooling performance. Maintain high standards for workmanship, accuracy, safety, and shop organization. Mentor junior machinists and toolmakers as needed and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Journeyman Mold Maker preferred but not required. Five to Eight years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Detail Oriented and Quality oriented. Focused, Productive, and willing to work in a dynamic and fast-moving environment. Open to ALL applicants and education levels!
