Visit our website at temperedmetals.com for more information about our products and services. We are currently looking for an experienced Slitter Operator to join our outstanding warehouse team. Summary of Position The Slitter Operator is responsible for the overall productivity of the slitter line, with a goal of 95% efficiency and cross-trains the Slitter Helper at Tempered and Specialty Metals. Responsibilities and Duties At a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Slitter Operator position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require. Perform all duties while maintaining the highest safety standards. Verify correct coils are supplied for processing by performing required confirmation checks and comparing tag information to ERP system schedule. Process coils ensuring quality while adhering to customer-specified tolerances. Complete all required documentation and reports, and update specifications in ERP system as needed. Communicate in a timely and effective manner with all employees, supervisors, and management. Build set-ups by utilizing knives and other tooling at specified widths to produce steel coils to meet customer's specifications. Visually inspect the product during operation and monitor the steel being cut, applying knowledge of the gauge and width of each coil to adjust accordingly. Use precision and safety when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, nibblers, and other cutting/processing tools. Safely drive a Hi-lo through the plant to move coils and skids to designated areas and operate the over-head crane to move coils. Demonstrate good housekeeping while preserving a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Cross train the Slitter Helper. Perform all other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required by the supervisor. Adhere to all TSM's safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
