DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Mill Operator at Barrett Petfood, you will play a crucial role in the production process by monitoring equipment controls that grind raw materials into fine flour. This position requires a keen eye for detail as you ensure all ingredients are accurately measured and prepared for use. Collaboration with team members is essential, as effective communication will help maintain efficiency and quality throughout the milling operation. You will be an integral part of a customer-focused and innovative company that values problem solvers, ensuring that every batch meets our high standards and contributes to delivering exceptional pet food products. WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
To excel as a Mill Operator at Barrett Petfood, you will need a strong set of skills and the ability to navigate various software and tools effectively. Proficiency in using the Mill computer for loading formulas, inputting recipes, and verifying blend sheets is essential. Excellent communication skills are critical as you will coordinate closely with the Bulk Material Handler for ingredient needs and the Setup Specialist for micro bin setups. You must be adept at monitoring overhead bins according to the production schedule and promptly addressing any discrepancies by contacting the Mill Supervisor or Mill Coordinator. Additionally, tracking overhead levels and planning upcoming runs based on the schedule will ensure that ingredients are ready for use. You will also assist with toting out, filling micro bins, and material handling, while accurately relaying information from prior shifts to ensure seamless operations. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Use the Mill computer to load formula, input recipes and verify blend sheets Communicate with Bulk Material Handler when ingredients are needed Communicate with the Setup Specialist on micro bin set up Monitor overhead bins based on the schedule Check and verify mill schedule and contact the Mill Supervisor or Mill Coordinator if issues arise Track overhead level Will be the designated person to contact Quality, Maintenance, Supervisor or Coordinator when issues occur. Plan upcoming runs by looking ahead on the schedule so we have ingredients prepared Assist with toting out, filling micro bins, material handling and hand adds Receive prior shift pass down and relay that information to current shift
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
