Job Description

Freeman Boatworks, recognized around the world for quality, performance, and comfort, is seeking a Mold Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for mold repairs, fiberglass lamination, tooling gel application, foam jig assembly, and fabrication work supporting the production and maintenance of molds and master parts of all sizes. What You'll Be Doing Inspect molds and parts to identify repair needs and determine appropriate repair methods Repair surface defects in tooling gel, including scratches, voids, and surface distortion Use grinders, sanders, buffers, drills, and other specialty tools to complete repairs and finishing work Mix and apply tooling gel, resins, and repair materials while following all safety and disposal procedures Perform spot spraying of tooling gel as needed Assemble foam jigs and apply tooling gel to completed assemblies Laminate multiple layers of fiberglass to meet mold specifications and thickness requirements Weld and attach steel frames to new molds Build and frame glass master parts from existing molds Modify, repair, and finish existing glass masters Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area What You Need Previous experience with fiberglass, gel coat, composite repair, or auto body repair preferred Experience mixing gel coats, resins, paints, or activators preferred Familiarity with repair and fabrication tools including sanders, buffers, grinders, and spray equipment Welding experience is a plus Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to follow safety procedures and quality standards Physical Requirements Including, but not limited to: Climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, stretching, squatting, and bending Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to work in awkward positions or tight spaces for extended periods Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment Exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, fiberglass, resins, acetone, cleaners, and outdoor weather conditions What We Offer Competitive weekly pay Paid time off and paid holidays Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, company-paid life insurance, disability coverage, and more 401(k) with company match A team-oriented workplace focused on craftsmanship, innovation, and continuous improvement Please note: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
