Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The Vertical Mill Operator at
MORGAN STEEL LLC
is responsible for operating and maintaining vertical milling machines to produce precision metal parts and components. This role requires a high level of technical skill and attention to detail to ensure that all products meet the company's quality standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate vertical milling machines to perform tasks such as drilling, cutting, and shaping metal workpieces. Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate machine settings and operations. Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and accuracy, including selecting and installing cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on milling machines to prevent downtime and ensure efficient operation. Monitor the machining process to ensure quality control and make necessary adjustments to maintain product specifications. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and company policies. Document and report any discrepancies or issues with machinery or production to supervisors for resolution. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to vertical milling operations and related technologies.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating vertical milling machines in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Proven track record of maintaining equipment and performing routine maintenance checks.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of machining principles and practices. Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with milling equipment. Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
