Shift:
3rd Shift Position Overview We are seeking an autonomous, safety-minded Process Tech to oversee the efficiency, cycle standards, and product quality of our injection molding presses. This role focuses on the baseline setup, execution, and troubleshooting of injection molding machines (IMM) and tooling. The ideal candidate can quickly diagnose molding defects, perform routine technical adjustments with minimal supervision, and safely manage tool modifications using overhead cranes/hoists.
General Job Duties & Responsibilities Process Control & Troubleshooting Defect Resolution:
Perform basic troubleshooting to identify and correct common molding defects such as part flash, short shots, splay, and color contamination.
Machinery Diagnostics:
Diagnose baseline technical and mechanical issues on Injection Molding Machines (IMM) to minimize machine downtime.
Cycle Standardization:
Actively monitor and maintain set cycle standards and optimal molding pressures/conditions on all assigned presses.
Machine Operations:
Execute technical startup and shutdown procedures on molding presses according to standard operating sheets.
Tooling, Maintenance & Logistics Color Changes:
Perform quick, efficient material and color changes to adapt to changing production demands.
Tooling TPM:
Execute basic Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on active tools and molds.
Rigging & Mold Changes:
Assist the toolroom team with physical mold changes when required, safely utilizing overhead rigging.
Fluid Line Repairs:
Troubleshoot, repair, or assist maintenance with water leaks on tools and manifold systems.
Quality Assurance & Communication Quality Auditing:
Inspect production parts hourly to catch cosmetic defects, structural gaps, mislabeling, or missing sub-components.
Data Log Execution:
Accurately record live machine processing parameters on shift Audit Sheets and First Piece validation paperwork.
Defect Escalation:
Maintain open communication with Quality Techs and IMM Operators regarding flaws; immediately notify the supervisor of persistent molding problems.
Equipment Verification:
Routinely check equipment for repairs, entering maintenance work orders as issues arise. 5
S Housekeeping:
Maintain the clean physical appearance, safety, and organization of all assigned IMM work zones.
Job Requirements & Qualifications Education & Background Education:
High School Diploma or GED required; completed skilled trades or vocational education is a strong plus.
Experience Window:
1 to 4 years of hands-on experience in plastic injection molding machinery processing or equivalent high-volume technical operations.
Certifications & Core Skills Rigging Requirement:
Must hold an active, valid certification to operate industrial overhead cranes and hoists.
Autonomy:
Proven ability to work responsibly with little to no direct supervision on the floor.
Resilience:
Excellent organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks calmly under strict production pressures.
Instruction Literacy:
Ability to seamlessly follow detailed written technical layouts as well as verbal plant instructions.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions Stamina:
Ability to stand on your feet and/or sit for extended shifts lasting 8 to 12 hours a day.
Weight Management:
Ability to lift up to 15 lbs regularly and lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis .
Range of Motion:
Comfortably perform physical maneuvers including overhead work as well as tool work below waist level.
Safety Mandate:
Strict compliance with safe work procedures and the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
