The Position The Maintenance Specialist provides advanced technical support to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment. This role performs troubleshooting, corrective repairs, and preventive/predictive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime and sustain equipment performance. The Maintenance Specialist works independently or within a team to resolve simple to complex issues, maintains accurate GxP-compliant documentation, and supports engineering activities. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, practical troubleshooting experience, and the ability to interpret technical instructions, schematics, and automation-related information. The role also collaborates closely with Engineering, Production, and cross-functional teams to support equipment reliability, continuous improvement initiatives, and overall operational readiness.
Responsibilities:
Perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, resolving simple to medium-complexity failures and identifying true root causes. Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned tasks, escalating complex issues as needed. Maintain accurate and compliant maintenance records, following GxP and strong documentation practices using CMMS and software systems (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, SAP, etc.). Provide support to Senior Maintenance Specialists and peers during repairs, including part retrieval, teardown/rebuild assistance, and basic troubleshooting support. Demonstrate full competence in the use of hand tools, power tools, test instruments, and precision measurement devices required for maintaining manufacturing equipment. Collaborate with engineering, production, and cross-functional teams on equipment-related activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of troubleshooting and repair experience with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems in a manufacturing or industrial operations environment. Or, an Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 2 years of relevant maintenance experience Experience with Precision Maintenance practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical thinking, and ability to follow technical instructions and schematics. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment. Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Ability to learn new equipment and technologies through on-the-job training and formal instruction.
Preferred:
7+ years of total experience in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic maintenance. Experience with RSLogix/Studio 5000, servo drives, and basic automation systems. Knowledge of GxP requirements. Working knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) concepts. Experience with Lean methodologies (5S, Kaizen, TPM, Six Sigma). Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Indianapolis, is 51,500.00 - 95,700.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
