Job Description

Weekend Night Shift; 4/3 schedule; 12-hour shifts; TH-S; 6:00pm-6:15am
Role Impact:
As part of an aseptic, beverage manufacturing company, the Mechanical Specialist will be critical to maintain, test, evaluate, and inspect the operation of critical equipment and systems to provide a safe and reliable facility infrastructure. In this role, the Mechanical Specialist will maintain a clean, safe work area and perform all work in accordance with SOPs, and GMP and Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines and local codes. Role Responsibilities Perform preventative, predictive, and proactive maintenance. Perform and document all preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer's operation and maintenance schedule, policy and procedure and facility guidelines. Maintain maintenance schedules and work with maintenance planner. Provide continuous improvement of work instructions. Provide proper communication to meet document change management process with maintenance/engineering/quality. Participate in root cause problem solving and troubleshooting issues. Read, interpret, and understand manufacturer's equipment manuals, and safety policies. Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records. Provide support to production lines by troubleshooting failures and other issues and making necessary repairs to production and facility equipment to maximize efficiencies. Work closely with the engineering, quality, and operation team to complete a variety of activities, including but not limited to developing user instructions and job aids, implementing process changes, root cause evaluation, corrective actions, qualifications, tests, and other department projects. Provide mechanical maintenance expertise to production associates by answering questions and requests, communicating with operators, engineering, management, outside contractors and others as necessary. Conduct daily checks of wastewater treatment facility operations. Assist with investigating potential areas for quality and efficiency improvements. Perform miscellaneous minor equipment repairs ranging from simple building maintenance to complex production machine repairs. Order and maintain spare parts inventory for machines and equipment. Ensure electrical systems are locked out and deenergized properly prior to doing work. Ensure lines are not pressure charged prior to doing work. Follow Food Safety Requirement/Standards as needed. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Formal Engineering/Maintenance training preferred. At least 5 years of mechanic/maintenance experience in a GMP facility required. Experience working in a manufacturing environment and food/beverage experience is highly preferred. Experience & Skills Ability to work in one or more maintenance trades including electrical, HVAC, boilers, welding, compressors, wastewater, refrigeration plumbing and food processing equipment. Demonstrate basic understanding of P&ID's and process flow. Demonstrate understanding of GMP facilities, mechanical/electrical systems, and associated controls. Must have good communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrate strong understanding of valves (pneumatic and fluid), pumps (pneumatic and fluid0, motors, gear boxes, servos, filter units. Ability to operate a variety of hand power tools. Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work with a team or on an individual basis. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
