$25-$35 per hour, plus mileage and expense reimbursement
Travel:
Less than 25% of work hours Position Overview We are seeking a Pilot Plant Operator / Maintenance Technician to support commissioning and continuous operation of Pilot #3 at our Golden, CO facility. This hands-on role will focus on running, maintaining, and improving our pilot-scale reactor system, while supporting R D and engineering teams in advancing Terra's innovative technology. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, welding and fabrication experience, and a background in industrial plant operations or maintenance. This is a physical, fast-paced role requiring flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a passion for working with new technology. Key Responsibilities Operate Terra's pilot reactor and milling circuit, including startup, shutdown, feed adjustment, and troubleshooting. Support continuous pilot operations, including shift work, during customer trials. Perform maintenance, repair, and fabrication tasks as needed to keep equipment running reliably. Assist in reactor cleanouts and maintenance during shutdowns. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety protocols. Collaborate with R D, Engineering, and Operations teams to run experiments and trials. Work closely with Terra's science team in Vancouver, Canada, to support R D objectives. Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory and testing equipment, including XRD, particle size analyzers, and SEM. Develop foundational knowledge of cementitious materials and apply it to process optimization. Support facility upkeep and assist in scaling pilot operations toward commercialization. Proactively support key customers and stakeholders in collaboration with Operations management. Contribute to a culture of teamwork and innovation across sites and functions. Qualifications Proven welding and fabrication experience. Strong maintenance background with heavy equipment and industrial systems. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills. Ability to work shift schedules to support continuous pilot operations. Capable of regularly lifting 50+ lbs (and occasionally 75+ lbs). Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to maintaining a safe work environment. Willingness to learn new skills in mechanical/process engineering and lab operations . Prior experience in cementitious materials, industrial pilot plants, or experimental reactors is a plus.
