Job Description

Description & Details :
Heating Plant Entry Operator will perform duties associated with the production and operation of four high pressure steam generating water tube boilers, two of which use natural gas/oil as fuel sources, two of which use coal as fuel sources, with a total capability of producing in excess of 200,000 pounds of steam per hour; Operate coal handling equipment (loader, car hoe, dump trucks, and skid steer, etc. for the loading/unloading, and stockpiling of coal); Remove ash both manually and with a pneumatic operated ash system; Operate manual and retractable soot blower on boilers; Must perform physical duties to include: walking, standing, and lifting of objects up to 75 lbs.; Must be able to perform duties under various work conditions which include hot and cold temperatures, noisy or dusty environments, confined spaces, and elevated platforms; Assists the Heating Plant Supervisors and/or the Heating Plant Lead Operator in performing preventive maintenance and repairs to the facility and equipment operating power hand tools and basic power tools. Performs general housekeeping duties for the facility.
Work Schedule:
Position requires rotating 8-hour shifts. Shift times are 7:00 a.m.
  • 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.
  • 11:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
  • 7:00 a.
m. Nights, weekends, holiday availability is a requirement for employment consideration.
Hiring Range:
$46,000
  • $51,000/year Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED. One year of mechanical experience or formal education using varied hand and power tools used in the mechanical trade. Class D Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree in industrial maintenance or equivalent trade. (e.g. HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical); Boiler License or certificate; Commercial Drivers License with air brakes.
