Job Summary :
PIC Staffing is seeking an Auxiliary Operator for an operating combined cycle power generation facility in Hobbs, New Mexico. The Auxiliary Operator will support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and systems while working closely with Control Room Operators and plant leadership. This role requires operators who understand plant systems conceptually, can think critically in real-time situations, and are capable of learning and adapting within a fast-paced operating environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot combined cycle plant equipment and auxiliary systems to support safe and efficient plant operations Assist with plant startups, shutdowns, load changes, and normal operating activities under the direction of plant operations leadership Perform routine equipment inspections, system rounds, and operational checks to identify abnormal conditions or equipment issues Respond to plant alarms, operational upsets, and emergency conditions while supporting corrective actions and maintaining safe plant operations Support lockout/tagout (LOTO), switching, clearance activities, and operational safety procedures Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and documentation related to plant status and equipment performance Coordinate and communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and plant leadership teams during daily activities and outage conditions Participate in training and qualification programs, including progression through plant qualification boards and water treatment operations
Job Requirements :
Strong operational fundamentals and understanding of plant systems, equipment interaction, and plant dynamics Ability to make sound real-time operational decisions in a fast-paced operating environment Experience operating or supporting gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and plant auxiliary systems Ability to work a rotating 7-on / 7-off schedule consisting of days and nights Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS preferred Experience with F-class gas turbines such as Mitsubishi 501F or GE 7FA preferred Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills Ability to work overtime as needed to support plant operations and staffing requirements Education /
Experience :
High school diploma or GED required 3+ years of experience in power plant operations with combined cycle experience required Technical training, military power generation experience, or related trade/operations education preferred Valid driver's license required
