Plant Operator, Nitrogen/Helium Processing Department/Location:
Roswell Area Plants About Cimarron Midstream Cimarron Midstream provides oil, natural gas, and helium midstream services to producers across North America. We focus on operating, acquiring, and consolidating legacy natural gas midstream assets in conventional basins with high helium concentrations. As a team, we roll up our sleeves and create value through operational efficiency, process optimization, commercial creativity, and financial discipline.is a fully integrated helium production, processing, and marketing company. We currently operate three core gathering & processing systems across the Texas Panhandle (Rock Creek), central Kansas (Peak-Otis & West Wichita), and Chaves County, New Mexico (Roswell). What role you will play in our team As a Plant Operator focused on unit run time and Nitrogen/Helium processing, you will be an integral part of our operations team. Your role will encompass overseeing and managing the continued flow of Natural Gas and processing of Nitrogen and Helium gases. You'll ensure the smooth and efficient running of our plant operations, maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. What you will do
  • Operate and monitor Nitrogen/Helium processing units.
  • Perform regular equipment inspections and routine maintenance to ensure operational integrity.
  • Adjust controls to optimize the extraction, processing, and storage of gas products.
  • Analyze operational trends and suggest improvements for efficiency and safety.
  • Handle emergency situations with composure and implement safety protocols effectively.
  • Record and report processing data for production logs and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with a team to meet production targets and maintain continuous operations.
  • Participate in training sessions and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
Work independently with little or no supervision. Demonstrate strong commitment to safety (personal safety, co-workers, contractors, and the public). Validate and input Plant meter and compressor readings along with downtime. Track health of equipment by reviewing temperatures and pressures. Represent the company in a professional manner always while performing all assigned tasks. Responsible for submitting accurate maintenance reports, timesheets, and other necessary paperwork daily. Ensure all equipment is in clean and presentable condition. Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of plant operations and gas processing technologies.
  • Practical knowledge of reading and interpreting technical documentation and schematics.
  • Proficiency with controls and instrumentation specific to the oil and gas industry.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for a team-oriented work approach.
  • Capability to operate computer systems and software related to plant operations.
  • Basic mechanical skills for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Motivated self-starter capable of working independently and efficiently with little or no supervision.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction; take responsibility for own actions; keep commitments; complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; change approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop solutions. Proven ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Mechanical intuition or ability. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Manage time between several different stations. Must have a valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • An associate degree or certification in Process Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a plant environment, especially in the oil and gas industry, is highly advantageous.
1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills Competent in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, etc.)
Work Environment:
Non-traditional working hours are required. Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat and/or crawl depending on the directed task. Exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions and environments on a location-by-location basis. High noise environment (>85 dB) will occur with ear protection. Potential controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals. Safety first regardless of the site conditions.
  • This position is full-time and based on-site at our processing facility.
  • You will work in an industrial plant setting, which can include exposure to outdoor elements.
  • The role may involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 operations.
Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel may be required for training or collaborative work with other facilities.
However, routine travel is not expected for this position.
