Job Description

Your impact Jacobs is actively seeking driven individuals interested in a career in water operations and eager to apply their expertise within a dynamic team. Depending on experience, you'll perform a variety of tasks and functions to maintain compliant and efficient operations and maintenance of production and distribution facilities. This position is based in the Eldorado Area Water and Sanitation District (EAWSD), located about 10 miles east of Santa Fe, New Mexico, among juniper and pinon trees in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Jacobs is the contract operator for EAWSD and is responsible for water production, water distribution, facility maintenance, meter reading, customer service and billing. EAWSD is primarily a ground water system with 10 active wells (secondary water source of purchased surface water), four tank zones and a distribution system, including booster stations, pressure reducing valves, fire hydrants and meters covering an area of 29 square miles. You will have the opportunities to
  • Learn and gain skills involved in the maintenance of water production and distribution systems
  • Operate, maintain and perform minor repairs on water production and/or distribution systems
  • Maintain grounds, buildings and facilities
  • Monitor gauges, meters and control panels
  • Start and stop equipment, and operate valves to route and control flow
  • Collect samples and perform routine laboratory test and analysis
  • Work safely and adhere to established safety procedures
  • Make process control adjustments and set proper chemical dosage and flow rates
  • Operate instrumentation and controls and the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system
  • Diagnose operating problems and perform necessary corrective action during shift
  • Inspect equipment, oversee maintenance and initiate needed repairs Here's what you'll need Must be 18 years of age or currently enrolled undergraduate or technical college student A valid US Driver's License Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, farm machinery, pumps and equipment utilized around water systems Familiarity with standard hand and power tools used in the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, structures and buildings Ideally, you'll also have: Valid water certification at any level Understanding of operational principles, methods and tools used in the maintenance and functionality of equipment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Experience in computerized maintenance management software Familiarity of SCADA systems Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

Posted Salary Range:

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
