Job Description
•Snapshot of your Day•As a HVDC Operator you will be responsible for monitoring,controlling and coordinating the operation and reliability of the NeptuneRegional Transmission System (NRTS) and the Hudson Transmission Project (HTP)in accordance with the PJM agreement and NERC Standards. The Neptune stationprovides up to 660 MW of power to Long Island electricity consumers enough for600,000 homes and supplies more than 20% of Long Island's typical electricitydemand. The Hudson station provides increased reliability by providing anadditional source of power for New York City. The incumbent will be required tofollow all Siemens Safety Rules and procedures as the Operator, exercise properjudgment and have a broad knowledge of Bulk Electric System principles andpractices. The primary responsibility is to monitor the status of the converterstations in accordance with the Common Operating Instructions; take real timeactions including primary load shedding to ensure the stable and reliableoperation of the Bulk Electric System. •How to make an Impact•+ Ensure reliable and compliant system operationsby continuously monitoring power system equipment and taking immediatecorrective actions to maintain performance within operating limits + Maintain grid stability by executing real-timeoperational decisions that support safe and efficient Bulk Electric Systemperformance + Drive data accuracy and operational visibilityby updating maintenance systems (e.g., iMaint), managing work orders, andproducing timely daily and monthly reports + Leverage HMI systems and event recording toolsto analyze trends, troubleshoot alarms, and support proactive issue resolution + Promote a strong safety culture by participatingin training, inspections, safety meetings, and documenting system performanceand operating conditions with precise daily logs + Support operational readiness by collaboratingwith site leadership, working rotating shifts, and responding effectively toemergencies in accordance with established agreements •What You Bring•+ Ability to communicate effectively in English,written or verbal; exercise independent action, judgment and risk management;act decisively; and interact effectively with PJM, NYISO, PSE&G, ConEd,LIPA and First Energy. + Possess basic technical knowledge of ElectricPower Systems. + Demonstrated inquisitiveness, decisiveness,positive attitude and teamwork. + Must attain PJM System Operator Certificationwithin six months of hire and complete mandatory PJM yearly trainingrequirements and Continuing Education Hours. + Must attain NERC Transmission OperatorCertification within six months of hire and complete mandatory NERC yearlytraining requirements and Continuing Education Hours. + Must be available to respond for emergency andrelief assignments. + https://jobs.siemens-energy.com/jobsEqual Employment Opportunity Statement Siemens Energy is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
