Job Description
Thomas Public Works Authority - Thomas, Oklahoma The Thomas Public Works Authority is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Public Works Operator . This position plays a vital role in maintaining safe, reliable water services for our community. Position Responsibilities Operate and maintain municipal water utility systems Monitor water treatment and distribution processes Perform routine inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs Ensure compliance with state and federal water quality regulations Assist with general public works duties as assigned Ability to work on-call, weekends/holidays, and respond to emergencies within 15 minutes. Working knowledge of utility safety practices, including trenching/excavation awareness and traffic control. Ability to read meters, complete logs, use basic math, and maintain accurate records. Proficiency in SCADA systems and Diamond mapping software is preferred . Ability to operate/learn equipment such as pumps, valves, hydrants, locating equipment, and basic hand/power tools. Must pass pre-employment background check, drug/alcohol screening, and any required physical/capacity testing. Preferred Qualifications Experience in water utility operations or related field preferred Oklahoma water operator certification preferred (or ability to obtain certification) Valid driver's license required Mechanical aptitude and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills What We Offer Competitive pay based on qualifications and experience Benefits package available including health, dental, and vision insurance.
