Asphalt Plant Manager

Palmetto Corp of Conway is seeking to hire a Plant Foreman for our new asphalt plant near Orangeburg, SC. Applicants must have experience with asphalt plant operation and plant maintenance. Welding experience is preferred but not required.

Job Summary:

An Asphalt Plant Foreman is responsible for the efficient management of assigned plant and operations. Position has the direct responsibility for personnel, equipment, scheduling, safety, quality, workmanship, and completion of assigned projects on time and within estimated budget. This position may include duties within, but not be limited to: Asphalt Material, Equipment, Plant, and Electrical. The plant foreman will act as the primary or secondary plant operator. The Foreman works under the supervision of the Project Manager. It is the Foreman's responsibility to coordinate the daily operations of their crew. He/She will delegate responsibilities to crew members, maintain crew discipline, resolve conflicts and maintain crew morale. Additionally, Foremen are expected to develop and maintain a strong sense of teamwork among the crew members. He/She is expected to act as a role model, working alongside crewmembers demonstrating a positive work ethic.

Job Requirements:

Perform roll of plant operator. Supervise and direct crew to assure completion of assigned project as instructed by the project manager. Includes human resource and employee related matters. See that new personnel receive proper orientation to acquaint them with company policies, safety requirements, and job responsibilities. Conduct periodic evaluation of assigned personnel with special emphasis on their contribution to the company and our contribution to them. Assist and direct crews in proper use of equipment, improving job performance, controlling cost and quality of work, increasing productivity, improving communication and housekeeping on project. Perform equipment inspections, request maintenance and repairs as needed. Order materials as needed for the project or operation of the plant. Monitor assigned personnel and maintain regular work hours. Maintain daily payroll records and log hours worked for each employee assigned to you. Complete all required daily reports, verify their accuracy and transmit promptly to the supervisor. Insure all work complies with OSHA, DOT, local laws, ordinances and EPA regulations. Insure all work is performed with an emphasis on safety. Insist upon compliance of all safety regulations. Conduct daily huddle meetings with safety as the primary agenda. Maintain good relations with the general public, engineers, architects, inspectors and customers to facilitate job progress and to promote a positive company image. Develop a courteous and considerate attitude toward these groups. Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year. Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures. Perform any and all duties as required in the operations of the project or plant, or as directed by the supervisor.

Heavy Physical Demands:

Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving light weight material with occasional lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 60 pounds). If a position specific Physical Demands sheet is attached, it will describe in more detail the physical demands that are required.

Physical Activity:

Position requires the ability to continuously work around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment may be required. Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
