Job Overview:
Works as part of a team of inside and outside operators responsible for operating and maintaining utilities equipment, such as industrial water tube boilers, deaerator tanks, rotary screw compressors, centrifugal compressors, pumps, diesel engines, electric motors, cooling towers, and evaporative condensers to ensures the safe and reliable delivery of high-pressure steam, anhydrous ammonia, process water, fire water, instrument air, and nitrogen to clients on the site. Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, process monitoring and control, water treatment activities, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements while supporting safe and efficient plant operations. Interacts with maintenance personnel, contractors, technical and professional staff, and department supervisors.

Full-time Non-Exempt Schedule:
Work hours will be rotating 12-hour shifts of 6:00am to 6:00pm and 6:00pm to 6:00am, with 36 hours in week 1 and 48 hours in week 2. Rotating shifts include nights, weekends, and holidays. On occasion, may work outside these hours for training and to support operational needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Works on a team as "inside" and "outside" operators, which regularly interacts with maintenance workers, contract employees, technical and professional employees, and department supervisors. Maintains equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly manner and implements continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and appearance. Conducts root cause analysis (RCAs), performs preventative maintenance (PMs), and repairs utility equipment as needed to ensure safe and efficient operations. Monitors the operation of utility systems and equipment, records operational data, adjusts process controls as required, and identifies, reports, and tracks maintenance needs through the work order process. Remains knowledgeable and proficient in the use of process control systems, ensuring effective monitoring, screen manipulation, troubleshooting, and response to operational needs. Tests and regulates water treatment chemical levels and maintains chemical feeding pumps, controls, and piping systems. Performs equipment isolation and energy control using lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and issues safe work permits to ensure maintenance activities are conducted safely and in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements. Assists with documenting and updating training requirements, SOPs, PMs, benchmarking activities, etc., by identifying and providing feedback on improvement opportunities. Conducts routine safety, environmental, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance inspections; maintains required documentation and preventive maintenance programs; and supports hazardous waste management activities, including waste movement, labeling, and manifesting in accordance with site procedures and regulatory requirements. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and safety procedures, including ISO standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC). Participates in safety audits and site safety process activities to ensure regulations and standards are met or exceeded, including job safety analyses (JSAs). Performs other duties as assigned.
Specific Skills:
Possesses general mechanical skills. Demonstrated basic math and problem-solving skills. Basic understanding of electrical circuits. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Familiarity with regulations and safety requirements in an industrial setting.
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate degree and/or a Certificate in industrial work skills, such as industrial maintenance, automation technology, welding, etc., is preferred.
Minimum Experience:
2 years of experience in heavy industrial or commercial maintenance operations are required; 5 years of experience in high-pressure industrial boiler operations are preferred.

Possess close visual acuity to perform visual inspection involving small defects, small parts; acuity to operate machines and determine accuracy; ability to stand, walk, grasp, talk, hear, and do repetitive motion; and, exert up to 75lbs occasionally, 25lbs of force frequently and/or 10lbs constantly.
Working Conditions :
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions such as temperature levels below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees for more than one hour; noise levels where one may need to shout to be heard; vibrations; hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in high places; exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, oils, and other cutting fluids; requires wearing a respirator; and work in close quarters and narrow passageways.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00, based on skills and experience
Annual Bonus:
5%, based on company and personal performance
