The Assistant Plant Manager will manage and lead the team members to perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair procedures in the Central Energy plant. They shall keep the Plant Manager informed regarding equipment failures and power outages that affect the safety or operation of the facility. Upon identifying any abnormal conditions, they take steps to limit damage and initiate necessary repairs. The Assistant Plant Manager can perform all duties and responsibilities of all other plant operators of the central energy plant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Plant Manager assumes responsibility for assisting the Plant Manager with the operations of the central energy plant, training, development, and management of the Central Energy plant staff, establishing and maintaining effective communications with fellow team members and necessary persons, and for the safety and cleanliness of the plant. These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Directs and coordinates plant operations within company policies and procedures Coordinates and presides over all pre-shut-down safety meetings to ensure compliance with all contractors before, during, and after the operation is complete. Assists the Plant Manager in ensuring all preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and operations of HVAC equipment are performed without fail Helps the Plant Manager to ensure that all remedial maintenance is identified and completed with eagerness and quality Assists the Plant Manager in ensuring all appropriate records are maintained, such as logs and inventories of equipment and tools Displays excellent verbal and written communication with all central plant constituents (clients, team members, contractors, vendors, etc.) Respectful and professional service provided to all central plant constituents (clients, team members, contractors, vendors, etc.) Assists the Plant Manager in managing efficient operations, monitoring and maintaining the lowest practicable energy costs Assists the Plant Manager to ensure responses to emergencies are handled appropriately. Researches, communicates, and maintains regulatory requirements of the central energy plant. Assists the Plant Manager in developing the central energy plant annual budget Help identify various central energy plant operational and maintenance expenses. Help Identify future central energy plant costs, such as projected capital needs. Manages operations and maintenance within budget parameters

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Must have excellent knowledge of HVAC equipment and maintenance
- Must be able to record and interpret readings for required equipment
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, operations, and duties
- Ability to organize and maximize the efficiency of the team
- Ability to lead and communicate with others successfully
- Ability to apply common sense understanding when dealing with any problem
- Ability to perform basic math skills including, but not limited to, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply basic knowledge of computers and office equipment
- Ability to read and interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift 75 pounds repeatedly Must be able to repeatedly walk, sit, stand, climb, twist/turn, push/pull, squat, crawl/kneel, reach above shoulder Must be able to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm movements Average close/distance vision necessary to record logs and operate equipment Must be able to communicate effectively and be understood by others Must be able to hear the various equipment to diagnose issues
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 5-8
years of plant experience High school education Three technical courses in the plant field EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works with hazardous chemicals Works with high ambient noises that require hearing protection Works in severe work conditions such as hot weather, high humidity, rain, storms, Etc. Works in the vicinity of high-voltage electrical components Works with systems using natural gas, oils, grease, refrigerants, and fuels
