Job Description

The Seal Table Technician supports nuclear power plant refueling and maintenance outages by performing precision assembly, disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and testing of mechanical seals and associated components. Key Responsibilities Assemble, disassemble, inspect, clean, and refurbish mechanical seals and seal components. Perform seal table operations in accordance with nuclear procedures, engineering specifications, and quality standards. Measure critical dimensions using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and torque equipment. Inspect components for wear, corrosion, damage, and dimensional tolerances. Complete required quality assurance documentation, work packages, and inspection records. Maintain Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) controls and contamination prevention practices. Work in radiologically controlled areas while following ALARA principles and radiation protection requirements. Perform equipment setup, maintenance, and housekeeping of the seal table work area. Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, quality control personnel, and outage team members. Follow all nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmental procedures. Support extended work schedules, including overtime, nights, weekends, and travel during outage seasons. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, drawings, and specifications. Experience using precision measuring tools and mechanical hand tools. Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access. Ability to pass background checks, fitness-for-duty testing, and radiological training. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces or extended standing positions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong mechanical troubleshooting and assembly skills. Attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outage environment. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Commitment to nuclear safety culture and procedural compliance. Ability to work under schedule-driven outage conditions while maintaining quality standards.
