Duke's is looking for a working Crew Lead to join our Virginia Beach, VA-based SSES (sanitary sewer evaluation services) crew! In this role, you will lead a small crew and also perform sewer inspection and rehabilitation services which includes manhole and sewer inspections, I/I assessments, smoke testing, line stopping, flow metering, and more. Reporting into the Superintendent, you will ensure safety and compliance, oversee equipment and vehicles, complete inspections and documentation, and maintain tools and equipment. This hands-on role requires outdoor work, travel, and delivering high-quality results to client standards. Responsible for the safety of the crew and professional operations of all trucks and equipment In partnership with the Superintendent, mentor and train new crew members Ensure the documentation of time/work logs in our system of record as they relate to start and stop times each day for the crew Maintain all working equipment in good operating condition including ensuring good operating condition by adjusting, cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs Mobilize equipment to the site and operate the equipment in a safe manner Complete SSES operations to the owners' standards Complete all required administrative paperwork (e.g., time sheets, truck mobilization/demobilization logs, schedules, etc.) accurately, and within the specified timelines Utilize easement/off road equipment Haul/tow equipment to and from job site Open manholes and other structures Prepares reports for work assignments completed. Perform miscellaneous related duties and carry out special projects as assigned Apply now if you: Will abide by all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required PPE for your safety Are at least 21 years of age Have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL A or B with tanker preferred. High school diploma or equivalent Are willing to undergo background check, MVR check, pre-employment drug screen, and DOT physical for DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate Have at least 1 year of SSES (sanitary sewer evaluation services) operations experience Have at least 6 months of professional experience leading and overseeing the work of others Have knowledge of data collection systems or willing to learn new technologies Are willing and able to travel in and out of state depending on project needs and location with occasional weekend work required as needed Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, smartphones, tablets, and digital communication tools Have strong verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with field crews Can lift and carry up to 65+ pounds multiple times per day while transporting equipment across uneven terrain Can exerting over 100lbs of force occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly Are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and within confined spaces (i.e., manhole entry), often involving kneeling, crawling, and physical maneuvering Are willing to safely use fall protection gear, gas monitors, ventilation systems, and full PPE including boots, safety vest, hard hat, gloves, and eye/ear protection Are able to perform all job responsibilities in environments that may include sewage, strong odors, noise, humidity, and extreme temperatures Have prior experience in utilities, construction, or municipal work, preferred Can complete all job tasks with or without reasonable accommodation Why Duke's?
