Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Class I Water Plant Operator and be at the forefront of delivering safe, clean, and reliable water to our community! In this vital role, you will operate and monitor water treatment and distribution systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with all safety and environmental standards. Duties Operate and control water treatment processes using programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to ensure efficient system performance. Conduct routine inspections of equipment such as pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feeders; perform necessary repairs or adjustments to maintain optimal operation. Collect and analyze data related to water quality parameters, system pressures, flow rates, and chemical levels to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Monitor gauges, meters, alarms, and control panels; respond promptly to system alerts or malfunctions to prevent service disruptions. Perform heavy lifting tasks involving equipment parts or materials during maintenance or construction activities; operate heavy equipment safely when required. Maintain detailed logs of daily operations, maintenance activities, and system performance for reporting and regulatory purposes. Assist with wastewater treatment processes when needed, supporting overall plant operations and environmental compliance. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in water treatment or related fields is preferred. Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), plumbing, mechanical repairs, and general equipment maintenance. Knowledge of water treatment processes, wastewater treatment principles, heavy equipment operation, construction practices, and basic math skills for calculations. Strong analysis skills for interpreting data from sensors and meters; ability to troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues efficiently. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, climb ladders or scaffolding, and work in confined spaces; willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Valid tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain one; familiarity with heavy equipment operation is a plus. Excellent attention to detail combined with proactive problem-solving skills to ensure continuous plant operation. $23.81 - $25.00 per hour
