Job Description

Multi Skilled Operator (MSO)
Schedule:
Full-time, rotating shift (day, evening, night)
Summary:
The Multi Skilled Operator responsible for the studio floor, management of people in that area and operation/handling of technology in that environment. They will work in a live studio environment, coordinating presenters, guests and correspondents, ensuring they go on air smoothly. They will ensure the correct positioning/setup of cameras, setup of audio for talent and liaising with the control room. The MSO will be reporting to the Lead Director and Director of Production (US) and working closely with London-based colleagues.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the studio floor, fostering a positive atmosphere and ensuring smooth collaboration between talent and crew. Presenters and guests are fully prepared for live transmission, including microphones and IEMs. Supervise and coordinate any set changes—desks, props, cameras, and monitors. Organize and conduct studio line ups. Work closely with control room staff during rehearsals and live programs with clear communication and teamwork. Provide cues, positions and time counts to presenters. Promote and uphold high standards of studio etiquette at all times. Ensure the studio remains tidy and presentable for all productions. Respond proactively to technical challenges and adapt to changes to maintain continuity on air. Champion an organized and positive work environment, encouraging best practices for efficient studio operations. Accurately report any incidents and issues appropriately, triaging as required to ensure smooth floor operations. Operate studio floor equipment as needed, including adjusting cameras and lighting. Stay up to date with a dynamic news agenda, checking emails and communications for bookings and updates. Proactively review documentation updates to understand how they affect your responsibilities. Carry out any other reasonable duties needed to contribute to a positive and smoothly running studio environment.
