We are hiring a Prepress Specialist at our Concord location. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and high-quality prepress production through a combination of hands-on file preparation and advanced workflow automation. This role plays a key part in optimizing prepress and plate-making processes, supporting production reliability, and improving turnaround times while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Preflight customer artwork files to ensure print readiness, including application of bleeds, dielines, barcodes, trapping, and file normalization. Create, review, and approve hard copy and electronic proofs, ensuring accuracy, color fidelity, and compliance with customer specifications. Verify plate-ready files and proofs for quality, accuracy, and consistency prior to production. Design, develop, maintain, and optimize automated workflows supporting Prepress, Structural Design, Customer Service, and Sales. Automate artwork processing, trapping, step-and-repeat, and output preparation. Manage and enhance Esko Automation Engine, WebCenter, and ArtPro+ workflows, including troubleshooting, version control, and performance optimization. Develop and maintain automation using SmartNames, PDF Action Lists, JavaScript, XML, XPath, RegEx, and JDF. Diagnose workflow issues and implement corrective and preventive solutions. Establish and continuously improve prepress and plate-making procedures. Integrate workflows with upstream and downstream systems, including MIS/ERP platforms, customer portals, and production systems. Collaborate closely with Production, Structural Design, Customer Service, Sales, IT, and other internal teams to ensure efficient, reliable operations. Document workflows, standards, and best practices. Provide training and technical support to team members as required. Comply with all company safety rules, quality standards, and workplace conduct requirements, maintaining a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Satisfaction. Perform routine equipment and system maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Skills Required High School Diploma or GED.
Advanced proficiency with:
Esko Automation Engine, Esko ArtPro+, Esko WebCenter Strong working knowledge of
Adobe Creative Suite:
Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign Experience with color management and proofing systems (Esko Color Pilot, Curve Pilot, Pack Proof, GMG ColorProof, GMG OpenColor). Working knowledge of MIS/ERP systems; CERM experience preferred. Knowledge of pressSIGN and G7 certification. Solid understanding of color management principles, including Extended Color Gamut. Experience with automation and data technologies such as SmartNames, PDF Action Lists, JavaScript, XML, XPath, RegEx, and JDF. Excellent attention to detail with strong visual acuity and color vision. Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards. Basic mathematical proficiency. Experience in a packaging or manufacturing environment.
