Job Title:
Press Brake Operator Job Description The Press Brake Operator sets up and operates Amada press brake machines to produce high‑precision custom sheet metal components. This role works directly from blueprints and GD&T specifications, handles both long‑run and short‑run production, and maintains tight tolerances while supporting preventative maintenance for fabrication equipment in a modern, climate‑controlled job shop. Responsibilities Set up and operate Amada press brake machines to produce custom sheet metal parts. Work with sheet metal thicknesses ranging from 20 gauge up to 3/8 inch. Read, interpret, and work directly from blueprints and GD&T specifications to ensure accurate part production. Handle a daily mix of long‑run and short‑run jobs, adjusting quickly to different projects and products. Produce parts to very tight tolerances, typically ranging from ±0.0001 to ±0.002 inches. Perform precise measurements and quality checks to verify that parts meet specifications and customer requirements. Assist with preventative maintenance on press brakes and other fabrication equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Collaborate with team members in the fabrication shop to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in line with shop standards. Adapt to working on state‑of‑the‑art fabrication machinery, including LVD, Cincinnati, and CNC press brakes as needed. Essential Skills At least 2 years of press brake setup experience in a fabrication or precision sheet metal environment. Proven ability to set up and operate Amada press brake machines or similar CNC press brakes. Strong experience reading and interpreting blueprints. Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application in production. Demonstrated ability to work with sheet metal thicknesses from 20 gauge to 3/8 inch. Ability to consistently hold tight tolerances from ±0.0001 to ±0.002 inches. Hands‑on experience with precision sheet metal work (preferred). Familiarity with press brake operation on equipment such as LVD and Cincinnati machines. Solid understanding of fabrication shop practices and safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Skillset in precision sheet metal fabrication, including custom and prototype work. Experience operating CNC press brakes and related sheet metal fabrication equipment. Ability to adapt quickly to different types of projects, products, and run lengths. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality, accurate parts. Effective communication skills for working within a team‑oriented fabrication environment. Capability to support and follow preventative maintenance routines on fabrication equipment. Comfort working with modern, state‑of‑the‑art machinery and technology in a job shop setting. The environment involves a mix of long‑run and short‑run custom projects, requiring flexibility and adaptability to different products and setups. The shop emphasizes safety, precision, and efficient workflows, providing a comfortable and professional setting for skilled fabrication work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vadnais Heights, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $33.00/hr.
