Job Description

Job Summary Looking for a seasoned operator to manage the press brake department in our sheet metal shop. Taking ownership of the area is a requirement; training new operators will be expected. We have 3 Amada press brakes: 125T, 100T, and 50T. Salary is negotiable, but looking for experience. Bend test will be required if there is an interview. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Press Brake Lead to oversee and coordinate all activities related to press brake operations within our manufacturing facility. As the leader of the press brake team, you will ensure precision fabrication of sheet metal components, maintain high-quality standards, and optimize production workflows. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team, enhance manufacturing processes, and contribute to the creation of top-tier products through expert machine operation and fabrication techniques. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the setup, operation, and maintenance of press brake machines to produce accurate sheet metal parts according to blueprints and technical specifications. Coordinate daily production schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of manufacturing orders. Train and mentor team members on press brake operation, safety protocols, tooling selection, and quality standards. Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs and prevent downtime; perform minor repairs or escalate issues as needed. Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical documentation to ensure precise fabrication. Oversee quality inspection processes using calipers, micrometers, precision measuring instruments, and visual checks to verify dimensional accuracy. Maintain a clean, safe work environment by enforcing safety procedures related to machinery operation, crane use, hand tools, and material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes. Skills Extensive knowledge of press brake machines Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling setups, sheet metal properties, and fabrication techniques. Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings with GD&T standards for precision manufacturing. Skilled in CNC programming for various machine types to optimize production efficiency. Ability to use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality inspection. Familiarity with welding processes and assembly techniques for sheet metal components. Knowledge of safety protocols involving forklifts, cranes, and other heavy machinery; commitment to maintaining a safe workspace. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances, and process adjustments. Strong leadership qualities with experience training teams in manufacturing environments; excellent communication skills for coordinating tasks effectively.
