Job Description

Job Title:
Machine Set Up Operator Job Description This role is ideal for a hands-on, mechanically minded individual who enjoys working with equipment, solving problems, and seeing tangible results every day. As a Machine Set Up Operator, you will learn to set up and run ACME screw machines and industrial cold heading machines that produce high volumes of precision metal parts used in real-world applications. You do not need prior cold heading experience; the team will provide thorough training for the right person with the right attitude. Responsibilities Set up and operate cold heading machines and ACME screw machines to produce high-volume precision metal parts. Learn how to dial in machines, adjust tooling, and optimize settings to maintain efficient production. Inspect parts during setup and throughout production to ensure they meet customer blueprints, specifications, and quality standards. Run multiple machines at the same time once you are fully trained and proficient. Troubleshoot production issues and make appropriate adjustments to keep machines producing high-quality parts. Perform basic machine maintenance and preventive upkeep to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area in alignment with 5S standards. Accurately complete production, setup, and quality documentation as required. Collaborate closely with team members to keep production flowing smoothly and efficiently. Work safely around industrial machinery and follow all safety procedures and guidelines. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in working with your hands, tools, and machinery. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts meet specified requirements. Troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machine or production issues. Experience working with equipment, farming, automotive, machining, or maintenance is a significant plus. Comfort working around industrial machinery in a fast-paced production environment. Strong attention to detail with pride in producing high-quality work. Dependable, team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow directions and learn new processes. Basic preventive maintenance skills for mechanical equipment. Ability to maintain accurate production and quality records. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with machine setup and operation in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Background or exposure to mechanical assembly work. Familiarity with shear, lathe, and mill operations. Experience operating or setting up ACME screw machines. Exposure to cold heading processes or willingness to learn these techniques. Comfort working with 5S or other workplace organization and efficiency systems. Why Work Here? You will join a niche industry that tends to be more resilient during economic downturns, providing greater stability and long-term opportunity. The organization fosters an extremely relaxed, people-first culture where employees feel respected and supported, reflected in an impressive average tenure of over 15 years. Business leaders are down to earth, approachable, and empathetic, creating an environment where your contributions are valued and your growth is encouraged. Work Environment You will work in a general machine shop environment that is organized and structured to support efficient production. The shop can be somewhat loud and hot at times due to the nature of industrial machinery and metalworking processes. You will work around ACME screw machines, cold heading machines, and other traditional shop equipment such as lathes, mills, and shears, following safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment as required.
