Job Description

The Opportunity:
Operate offset and direct image equipment to support high-quality, efficient printing operations. This role is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and running a variety of duplicating machines while ensuring adherence to specifications, safety standards, and production goals. A typical day involves reviewing print documents, preparing equipment, monitoring production quality, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with maintenance and other departments to ensure seamless operations. The role contributes directly to manufacturing efficiency, cost management, and customer satisfaction through quality output and continuous improvement. How you will impact
Smurfit Westrock:
  • Set up, adjust, and operate offset and direct image duplicating machines.
  • Operate supporting equipment such as cutters and plate-making machines.
  • Perform semi-complex and critical tasks where quality and efficiency impact production and cost.
  • Interpret printing documentation and ensure compliance with all specifications.
  • Identify and correct machine malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machinery to ensure consistent production quality.
  • Notify supervision of required repairs and replacement parts.
  • Maintain equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Assist in training team members as needed.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and core processes.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and maintain a clean workspace.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and other departments on projects and validations.
  • Apply LEAN principles to identify and resolve inefficiencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, cycle times, safety, and cost reduction.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
  • Ability to read and distinguish similarities and differences between words and numbers.
  • Strong basic communication skills including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to present information effectively in small group and one-on-one settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
