Job Summary The Press Brake Setup/Operator & Shear Operator is responsible for setting up and operating fabrication equipment to cut and bend stainless steel and aluminum components of various gauges to specification. This role ensures high-quality output, adherence to safety standards, and efficient production to support downstream assembly processes.
Requirements:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Set up and operate press brake and square shear equipment to perform cutting and forming operations. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to produce parts within specification. Verify part dimensions using appropriate measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges, etc.). Perform routine machine setup adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency. Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with quality standards and report any nonconformances. Maintain production efficiency targets in alignment with departmental goals. Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely. Ensure parts meet quality requirements and customer specifications. Identify and escalate deviations, defects, or process issues to supervision or quality team. Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, waste reduction, process optimization). Maintain a clean and organized work area. Adhere to attendance policies, ensuring punctuality and reliability in reporting for shifts. Comply with all safety regulations and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in training sessions and safety meetings. Perform other duties as assigned by management. An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in metal fabrication, machining, or related field. Experience with press brake and/or shear equipment preferred. Familiarity with fabrication process and material properties (steel, aluminum). Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprint. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments. Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and measurements. Forklift experienced preferred. Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail. Demonstrated computer literacy, including the ability to navigate inventory and production systems. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Working Environment The role will be performed in a manufacturing facility that may be noisy, with exposure to machinery and equipment. Potential exposure to chemicals, dust, or debris depending on the products being handled. Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, safety shoes) are required. The environment is temperature controlled with potential exposure to heat or cold on occasion. Regular interaction with team members and supervisors in a collaborative atmosphere.
