We are looking for a seasoned candidate who combines technical experience with truss systems and the leadership skills necessary to guide a team toward precision and efficiency. Role Overview The Lead Truss Builder is responsible for the end-to-end assembly of high-quality wood trusses. You will be hands-on in the assembly process while ensuring your crew maintains strict adherence to safety protocols and engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities Assembly & Setup:
Direct the setup of truss jigs and the placement of lumber and connector plates according to shop drawings.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished products for accuracy, ensuring all joints are tight and plates are pressed to specification.
Team Leadership:
Coordinate the workflow of the assembly crew, providing clear instructions and troubleshooting production bottlenecks.
Safety Oversight:
Serve as the first line of defense for shop safety, ensuring all team members use PPE and operate machinery (saws, rollers, presses) correctly.
Material Management:
Assist in staging lumber and hardware to ensure the production line remains consistent and uninterrupted. ###
Required Skills & Qualifications Construction Aptitude:
Deep understanding of blueprints, shop drawings, and structural framing.
Truss Expertise:
Previous experience in a truss manufacturing plant is preferred. You should be familiar with various truss types (King Post, Fink, Scissors, etc.).
Communication:
Ability to work well with others and relay technical instructions to a diverse team.
Physical Stamina:
Capacity to lift heavy materials, stand for long shifts, and work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Mathematical Proficiency:
Strong ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16th of an inch and perform quick calculations on the fly.
