Job Title:
Assembler Job Description This role focuses on performing complex mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies in a modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing environment. You will interpret detailed technical documentation, troubleshoot assembly issues, and ensure products meet strict quality and safety standards. The position also involves mentoring junior assemblers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor. Responsibilities Execute complex assembly tasks, including advanced mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies on an assembly line. Read and interpret detailed blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to assemble components accurately. Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve issues in assembly processes and product functionality. Coach and train lower-level assemblers, providing guidance on assembly techniques, safe work practices, and quality standards. Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and regulatory compliance requirements throughout the assembly process. Continuously review assembly processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and support lean manufacturing initiatives. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other departments to resolve design or manufacturing issues affecting assembly. Perform final quality inspections and functional testing to verify that assembled products meet company standards and specifications. Maintain inventory of parts and materials required for assembly and help ensure stock levels remain optimal. Assist with the setup, calibration, and operation of automated or semi-automated equipment used in the assembly process. Follow lean manufacturing guidelines and actively contribute continuous improvement suggestions. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to assemble parts with a low rate of error. Work within general production and assembly line environments to meet production schedules and deadlines. Comply with all personal protective equipment requirements and maintain a clean, organized work area. Essential Skills At least 2-5 years of experience in assembly or manufacturing roles, which may include mechanical assembly, mechanic work, military experience, soldering, cable harness work, or electronics, with strong mechanical aptitude. Proficiency in assembly line work, including experience in production and general manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly of both small and larger parts. Strong ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for precise, consistent assembly. Expertise in reading and interpreting complex technical documents, including engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for resolving assembly and product functionality issues. Ability to train, coach, and mentor junior team members and contribute to overall team development. Strong knowledge of quality control processes and manufacturing best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with engineers, designers, and production teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines without compromising quality. Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and stoop, kneel, or crouch as required. Ability to climb portable ladders as needed in the course of work. Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, including use of both hands and arms for precise assembly tasks. Willingness and ability to use required personal protective equipment in the manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics is ideal but not required. Experience terminating J panels is preferred. Apprentice-level electrical work experience is a plus. Background in green or advanced manufacturing environments is beneficial. Work Environment This position is based in a modern manufacturing facility featuring air-conditioned production areas and industry 4.0 technology. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the potential for occasional weekend work depending on production needs. The environment is production- and assembly-line focused, utilizing hand tools, power tools, and automated or semi-automated equipment. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds, and the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb portable ladders. Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are essential for precise mechanical assembly tasks. Use of personal protective equipment is required, and safety procedures are strictly followed throughout the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
