Job Title:
Sandblast Operator Job Description The Sandblast Operator prepares and finishes metal and other surfaces by using high-pressure abrasive blasting equipment to clean, smooth, and remove contaminants such as dirt, paint, and rust. This role focuses on producing high-quality, consistent results while following strict safety and operational procedures. The position suits someone who has solid hands-on experience, understands a basic shop environment, and is eager to learn new skills and grow with a close-knit production team. Responsibilities Operate sandblasting equipment to clean, smooth, and prepare surfaces to required specifications for subsequent processes such as painting, powder coating, or other coatings. Prepare workpieces by cleaning surfaces and masking or covering areas that must not be treated during blasting. Inspect finished parts and surfaces for quality, accuracy, and consistency, ensuring they meet required standards and specifications. Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on sandblasting tools, blast house equipment, and related machinery to keep them in safe, working condition. Handle materials by hand and with power industrial equipment, including moving parts weighing 45+ lbs manually and/or with a partner in a safe and efficient manner. Work with a sense of urgency to meet daily and weekly production demands while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards. Assist with general labor tasks such as setting up work areas, staging parts, and supporting related processes like paint preparation and powder coating as needed. Keep workstations, blast areas, and surrounding shop spaces neat, clean, and organized to promote safety and efficiency. Use basic hand and power tools, including tools used for paint prep, construction-type tasks, and general shop work. Follow all safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements while working in the blast house, warehouse, shop, and yard environments. Essential Skills At least 2 years of sandblasting experience in a production, industrial, or similar environment. At least 1 year of general labor experience in a shop, warehouse, construction, or manufacturing setting. Ability to operate and maintain sandblasting equipment safely and effectively. Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools used in shop or construction environments. Capability to manually lift and move parts weighing 45+ lbs, sometimes with a partner, on a regular basis. Strong attention to detail when inspecting finished surfaces for quality and accuracy. Comfort working in a typical production environment with time-sensitive demands and high expectations for productivity. Willingness and ability to learn new tasks, processes, and equipment, with a positive attitude toward training and skill development. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Escalon, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
