Cleanroom Production Operator Job Description The Cleanroom Production Operator supports daily production and packaging activities in a regulated manufacturing environment, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role focuses on meeting production goals, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring accurate documentation while working in a cleanroom setting with automated and manual equipment. Responsibilities Perform daily production and packaging activities in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Work consistently to achieve assigned production goals and support unscheduled peaks in workload to ensure timely release of product and prevent back orders. Collaborate with the Team Leader and other production staff to understand critical raw materials, in-process procedures, and product specifications. Assist in identifying and implementing corrective actions for technical problems related to raw materials and finished products. Perform in-process quality checks on sub-assemblies and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications and quality standards. Troubleshoot line issues and other production problems and promptly notify the Team Leader or appropriate personnel of required corrective actions. Maintain accurate and complete records and documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and all related SOPs. Use a computerized Materials Resource Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) inventory system as required to report lot-controlled ingredients on batch records. Follow cleanroom protocols and site procedures to support a safe, compliant, and controlled manufacturing environment. Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to avoid production bottlenecks and ensure smooth workflow within the team. Support qualification and validation trials as needed by following instructions and documenting results accurately. Operate production and packaging machinery safely and efficiently, and report any equipment issues or irregularities. Use computers for data entry, documentation, and closing work orders in the applicable systems, such as ERP or SAP (if applicable). Essential Skills At least two (2) years of previous assembly or packaging experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous experience in a regulated medical device manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including providing concrete examples of how SOPs were used and followed in prior roles. Strong understanding of Good Documentation Practices (GDP), with the ability to explain what GDP is and how it is applied in daily work. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in a production environment. Ability to perform quality assurance checks, inspections, and basic machine operation in a production or packaging setting. Comfort working with cleanroom production processes and adhering to strict cleanliness and contamination-control requirements. Basic computer operation skills, including data entry and navigating production or inventory systems. Ability to learn and quickly comprehend coagulation-based manufacturing processes. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following procedures and completing documentation. Reliability and consistency in attendance and work performance to support continuous production flow. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), FDA regulations, and ISO standards. Knowledge of qualification and validation trials is a plus. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP, is preferred. Understanding of manufacturing terminology and acronyms beyond SOP, GDP, and GMP, demonstrating comfort with manufacturing lingo. Experience closing work orders and documenting production activities in electronic systems. Previous experience in cleanroom environments, including adherence to specific dress codes and contamination-control practices. Strong communication skills to explain prior experience with SOPs, GDP, and manufacturing processes during interviews. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a cleanroom manufacturing environment with one opening on the first shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work is performed on a production floor where it can be loud at times; hearing protection and earplugs are provided as needed. Cleanroom and safety protocols are strictly enforced. Leggings are not permitted; employees must wear appropriate pants. No makeup or lipstick may be worn, and any necklaces must be tucked into shirts. If glasses are worn, side shields are required. Headphones are not allowed on the manufacturing floor, and cell phone use is restricted during work. The position may require overtime after an initial training period of approximately six weeks; some overtime is voluntary and some may be mandatory, with one to two weeks' notice provided. Flexibility to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays depending on the assigned position, is important. The environment involves working with production machinery, computers, and systems such as ERP or SAP, and requires adherence to all safety, quality, and cleanroom standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
