Our technical staff possesses well over 100 cumulative years in the photonics industry. PPD resides in a 7,000 square foot facility with a class 10,000 clean room. We have a full range of shaping, grinding, polishing and coating equipment enabling us to produce a diverse mix of shapes and sizes of precision optical components and assemblies for a wide variety of applications. PPD is looking for a Full-Time Optics Fabrication Technician. You will be fully trained to properly handle and fabricate precision optical components. As needed you will receive training to perform various tasks required for the fabrication of precision optical components, such as beveling, grinding, polishing, sawing, and drilling. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Inspect and test products to MIL and/or ISO specifications Understand written work instructions and mechanical drawings of optical components Operation and maintenance of fabrication equipment Perform visual inspection and testing with microscopes, micrometers, calipers, interferometers, and autocollimators Proper handling of critical and fragile optical components Maintain appropriate records and log books Keep work area neat and organized Performs basic shaping process steps on medium difficult parts. Beveling

• capable of fabricating polished, double, and off-angle asymmetric bevels Blocking
• pitch button, Norland transfer, steep singles, cold blocking, contacting, and alignment Grinding
• Steep radius, cylinder, tight wedge, continuous Polishing
• spindle, CP, double side, CNC polish Slurry Maintenance
• maintains and measures established Baume and PH levels Pour pitch lap, cuts and grooves lap Advanced print reading skills
• can read and comprehend all fabrication specs Measurement skills include
• Basic Zygo, understanding of fringe pattern, microscope, stereoscope, surface quality inspection, fiber light Performs other duties as assigned.
