Mechanical Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling small drones and related components with precision and care. You will work with small parts and tight tolerances, follow detailed procedures, and perform quality checks to ensure each unit meets rigorous standards. The position offers both first and second shift options in a clean, climate-controlled environment. Responsibilities Assemble small drones using a variety of hand tools while following detailed work instructions. Build and integrate small parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies that require working with tight tolerances. Conduct thorough quality checks on parts and completed assemblies to ensure proper fit, function, and compliance with specifications. Follow detailed checklists and standardized procedures to maintain consistent quality standards throughout the assembly process. Use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances. Apply knowledge of FOD (Foreign Object Debris/Damage) prevention to maintain a safe and clean assembly area. Collaborate with team members and support personnel to troubleshoot basic assembly issues and ensure smooth workflow. Document work performed in computer systems, including ERP and standard office software, as required by production and quality processes. Essential Skills Familiarity with UAV, UAS, drones, and related systems. Experience working with box builds, RC components, MOS codes, and avionics. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience using ERP systems to record and track work. Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools. Understanding of FOD (Foreign Object Debris/Damage) and its impact on quality and safety. Ability to work accurately with small parts and assemblies that require tight tolerances. Capability to follow detailed written instructions, checklists, and procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Quality-related certifications or experience with standards such as
TS16949, ISO
9001, or AS9100. Experience in hydraulic assembly and pneumatic assembly. Military experience, particularly with electrical systems or technical equipment. Familiarity with electrical systems in aerospace, defense, or related industries. Experience working with optical payloads, weapons systems, and auxiliary power units (APU). Troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, and conveyor systems. Experience with conveyor maintenance and general mechanical maintenance tasks. Exposure to MIG welding or other basic welding processes. Strong understanding of small parts assembly, precision work, and tight tolerances. Why Work Here? The role operates on a Monday through Friday schedule with two primary shifts available: first shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and second shift runs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The facility is temperature-controlled and structured to support both independent work and collaboration with other team members as need Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
