Meyer Tool & Manufacturing, Inc. is searching for a motivated & mechanically inclined Assembly & Test Technician who will enjoy working hands-on to develop and execute Assembly and Test plans for unique, complex, precision one-of-a-kind or small batch components in our ASME Code Certified, heavy metal fabrication job shop. The motivated candidate will be engaged in diverse responsibilities including material handling, mechanical assembly, testing including He Mass Spectrometer testing, Pneumatic testing & NDT, grinding, shipping & receiving, more. Meyer Tool is a job shop producing high precision, unique, one-of-a-kind or small run projects, so every day is different. Attendance is important. A problem-solving mindset, and the willingness to pitch in on a variety of tasks is critical. We offer welding, machining, assembly and test services for scientific and commercial applications such as NASA, Argonne, Fermilab & high tech industry such as Quantum Computing technologies. Duties:
Technicians collaborate with customers, project engineers and shop leadership team to solve challenges unique to cryogenic, vacuum and pressure components to develop and implement assembly and test plans that ultimately ensure product quality. Lead, assemble and test components, troubleshoot processes, operate with mechanical aptitude. Critical thinking skills are required. Leak tight welded vessels are a core competence; Senior Technicians perform helium leak testing to 10 -10 std-cc/sec.
Fabrication and Assembly:
  • Set up and troubleshoot assembly and fit up.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly and testing for various complex and unique components.
  • Solder mechanical components.
  • Expert in general assembly tasks including mechanical polishing, deburring, tapping, cleaning, grinding, stamping, pressure washing, precision cleaning, material handling and packaging.
  • Develop and document best practices.
Test:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform vacuum testing including Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing, Pneumatic Pressure Test and Hydrostatic Testing.
  • Perform Electrical Testing, High & Low voltage and other non-destructive testing (NDT).
Inspection:
  • Skill in set up and inspection of large envelope parts (example 36" x 36" x 72").
  • Level II Dye Penetrant Inspection and other non-destructive inspection including but not limited to visual inspection.
  • Accurately complete inspection reports. Understand the meaning of data to develop next actions that resolve inspection and fabrication issues.
  • Use of mechanical and portable CMM Arm a plus, but not required.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Minimum 2 years technician experience required. 2.
Education preferred:
Associates degree or equivalent with advanced mathematics. An Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree a plus. 3. Must possess the ability to read blueprints and have knowledge of GD&T. 4. Ability to see the big picture, problem solve, and exhibit critical thinking is key. 5. Other key traits include a willingness to learn new skills and cross train including train others, strong attention to detail, accuracy, high energy and initiative with ability to work either independently or as part of a team. 6. Be mechanically inclined with a desire to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment in an Assembly/Test role with demonstrated mechanical,technical and electrical proficiency. 7. Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds. 8. Willingness to work cross-functionally in a fast paced environment. 9. Able to fluently communicate, read and write in the English language. Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour
