Job Description
The Senior Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling HDD tooling, equipment, and related products while serving as a technical resource within the assembly department. This position supports assembly operations through advanced product knowledge, troubleshooting, training assistance, quality oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assembly Operations Assemble HDD tooling, equipment, and related products according to specifications, drawings, and work instructions. Perform mechanical assembly, fit-up, adjustment, and testing of products and assemblies. Verify product quality throughout the assembly process. Troubleshoot assembly issues and identify corrective actions. Assist with prototype builds and engineering changes. Maintain assembly documentation and records as required. Team Leadership Provide day-to-day direction and support to assembly personnel. Coordinate workflow to meet production schedules and delivery commitments. Train new employees on assembly procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. Assist supervisors and management with production planning and manpower allocation. Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department. Communicate production concerns, material shortages, and quality issues to management. Quality & Continuous Improvement Ensure assemblies meet company quality standards and customer requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and waste reduction. Assist in developing and improving assembly procedures and standard work instructions. Support root cause investigations and corrective actions when quality issues occur. Safety Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Promote a safe and organized work environment. Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, and incidents promptly. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical assembly, manufacturing, fabrication, equipment assembly, or related experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and specifications. Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in a manufacturing environment. Preferred Prior leadership, lead, trainer, or supervisory experience. Experience in HDD, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment, or related manufacturing. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification. Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Working Conditions Manufacturing and assembly environment. Regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of tools and equipment. Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and typical manufacturing conditions. Overtime as required to support production schedules.
