Job Description

Title:
Energy Utilities/Lineworker Part-time Instructor Salary Range:
$750/credit hour
Standard Hours:
5 hours a week, Tuesday and Thursday, 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
College:
Gateway Community & Technical College, Boone Campus Department:
Manufacturing & Engineering Job Summary Instructor to teach an energy utility class focusing on entry level line maintenance, underground and overhead wiring, substations and switchyards to students in the line worker program. Class meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for 8 weeks. Content will be provided and the instructor will be expected to share content and guide provided labs including basic pole climbing
Job Duties:
Deliver in-person instruction in both theoretical and practical aspects . Facilitate hands-on lab activities that simulate real-world environments. Maintain classroom and lab spaces, including tools and training materials. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and code updates to ensure course content remains relevant. Support student learning and success through mentorship and engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of industry experience in the areas being taught Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments. Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree Industry Certifications Five (5) + years experience Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.) Significant teaching experience, particularly at the college level Strong dedication to enhancing student learning and achievement Experience working with and understanding students from diverse backgrounds Experience in academic advising and supporting student success Previous experience in a community college setting Faculty may be assigned courses that include both traditional college students and high school students earning dual credit. This dynamic mix offers a unique opportunity to engage learners at different stages of their academic journey.
