Job Title:
Assembler Job Description The Assembler plays a key role in building high-quality electrification products by accurately assembling components into finished structures according to specifications, blueprints, and work orders. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Assembler will work closely with a team, contribute to process improvements, and support a growing organization focused on critical infrastructure. Responsibilities Assemble components into finished products by following specifications, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and work orders. Follow all company safety protocols and procedures, including wearing safety shoes, safety glasses, and ear protection. Use hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches safely and correctly to install materials and torque bolts to required specifications. Read and interpret manufacturing information such as front views, bills of materials, drawings, blueprints, and order entry systems to ensure accurate assembly. Ensure the quality of structures by checking that products are level, square, and assembled according to design requirements. Inspect components such as corner posts, roofs, covers, and other structural elements for damage, including dents and scratches, before and during assembly. Assemble copper bussing according to design, verifying correct spacing from phase to phase and ground. Perform visual inspections of materials before and after assembly, identify nonconforming parts, and troubleshoot errors to maintain quality standards. Utilize various hand tools and follow established procedures to complete assigned assembly functions accurately and efficiently. Assemble switchboards, panelboards, and related products using oral or written instructions, while proactively identifying missing components. Communicate job progress within the assigned area, including highlighting problem areas, part shortages, or other issues that may impact production. Collaborate closely with team members and leads to complete production goals and maintain a smooth workflow. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in root cause analysis to resolve quality or production issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards. Perform other duties as assigned to support production and operational needs. Essential Skills Proven experience working as an Assembler in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and other technical drawings. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and concentration when performing assembly tasks. Clear understanding of manufacturing information such as front views, bills of materials, drawings, blueprints, and order entry systems. Familiarity with assembly tools and techniques, including the safe use of hand tools and power tools. Ability to use torque wrenches to torque bolts to specified requirements. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team. Ability to problem-solve using oral or written instructions to assemble switchboards, panelboards, and related products. Capability to identify missing components and nonconforming parts and take appropriate corrective actions. Proficiency in using a computer and CAD software to open and follow structural designs. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, set work priorities, and manage time efficiently. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for long periods. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and good manufacturing practices (GMP). Exposure to ERP systems and inventory control processes. Comfort working with electrification products, such as switchboards and panelboards. Interest in continuous improvement and participation in root cause analysis for quality or production issues. Work Environment The role is based in a brand-new manufacturing facility that will support approximately 200-250 people at full capacity, creating an energetic and collaborative production environment. Assemblers work on a manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures, and must be comfortable standing or walking for long periods and lifting 25-50 lbs as part of daily tasks. The standard work schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing a consistent four-day workweek. Safety is a priority, and employees are required to wear steel-toed boots and safety glasses, which are provided. Long pants made of thicker material are required, and leggings are not permitted; long sleeves or cut-resistant sleeves are also required, with support provided to obtain appropriate protective sleeves. During the first week, new hires receive comprehensive training before being assigned to their team, with a structure of approximately five producers to one lead to ensure close guidance and hands-on support. The environment uses a range of hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and computer-based systems, including CAD and ERP tools, supporting a modern, process-driven manufacturing operation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
