Job Title:
Production Assembler Job Description The Production Assembler performs repeated, hands-on assembly of handcrafted products before they are shipped to customers. You work at a designated station in a manufacturing environment, using hand tools, power tools, and other instruments to assemble metal components accurately and efficiently. This role is physically active, requires standing for most of the shift, and involves consistent lifting of moderate to heavy parts while following detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities Perform repeated mechanical assemblies on handcrafted products according to established work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Work at a designated production station, assembling metal parts such as cast iron components using hand tools, power tools, and related equipment. Operate basic production and assembly equipment safely and efficiently as part of the general manufacturing and machine operation process. Follow written and verbal instructions, including blueprints or diagrams when provided, to ensure accurate and consistent assembly. Inspect parts and assemblies for quality, paying close attention to detail to identify defects or inconsistencies. Handle and lift materials and finished products weighing approximately 35-50 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the shift. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with manufacturing and safety standards. Support lean manufacturing practices by following standardized processes and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues with parts, tools, or processes to the appropriate personnel. Learn and train on new positions or stations as needed to support production demands and broaden skills within the manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Experience in a manufacturing, general labor, or general production environment. Proficiency using hand tools for mechanical assembly tasks. Proficiency using power tools safely in a production or industrial setting. Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8-10 hours per shift. Ability to consistently lift and move 35-50 pounds throughout the workday. Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Strong attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy in assemblies. Willingness to learn and train on new positions and tasks within the manufacturing process. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical assembly processes. Experience working with metal parts, including cast iron or similar materials. Exposure to lean manufacturing processes and an interest in developing skills in this area. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or assembly diagrams. Comfort working in an industrial or machine operation environment as part of a larger production team. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing setting, working primarily with metal components such as cast iron parts. You will be part of a first-shift team of approximately 50-60 people, creating a busy yet collaborative production environment. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with shifts that require standing on your feet for most of the day and performing physically active work. Safety and appropriate attire are important, including steel-toed shoes and long pants, as you work around industrial equipment, hand tools, power tools, and general production machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Gorham, ME. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
